Project Saysay supports Mactan 2021
The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) has partnered with Project Saysay in generating print and online materials in anticipation of the country’s celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan in 2021. Project Saysay Creatives Team is responsible in standardizing the online designs as well as the improvement to the NQC logo.
NQC Vice-Chairperson and National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairperson Rene R. Escalante has recently granted the Philippine Embassy in London the usage of the National Quincentennial Commemorations logo for the exhibit entitled To Retrieve What Has Been Lost: Jose Rizal as a Historian. Designed by Project Saysay Creatives, the exhibit was co-written by former Project Saysay Executive Director Ian Christopher Alfonso, and Vice-Consul for Culture of the Philippine Embassy in London Stacy Danika Garcia (also a director of Project Saysay). The granting of the usage of the quincentennial logo is due to the fact that Rizal was instrumental in educating his countrymen about their ancestors’ history and culture which he stumbled upon at the British Library from 1888 to 1889.
In May 2018, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte established the NQC through Executive Order No. 55. Alfonso currently sits as the NQC Secretariat Head.
